AMANIE ILLFATED

Bringing South Sudan to the world

There is more than a resonant beauty in the unbelievable music of Amanie Illfated. It oozes the splendour of a life that has already seen so many challenges, but rise to them she has, and what a gift that is to the world. A refugee from South Sudan who made a life for herself in Canada, the strong, independent, and resolute woman now boasts a catalogue of work that comfortably stands alongside her peers on the international stage.

Navigating many languages and diving deep into the genres of RnB, Afropop, Reggae and Trap, her songs reach into the very rich and diverse tapestry of the African diaspora itself. Weaving incredible narratives with her signature vocals which soar effortlessly through an incredible maze of sounds, her recordings and live performances exhibit an irresistible dynamic flow.

After making Canada her home she has been relentlessly pursuing a career that has seen her travel the globe and releasing an astonishing array of music. With two albums in the bag already and numerous singles, Amanie is proving how dedicated and prolific she is. Her latest release ‘Divine’ is a case in point. Sixteen tracks that grab your soul and echo the brilliance of the great songwriters of yesteryear, is simply extraordinary. That reputation has been reinforced by working with award winning producers and artists such as TAABU, James Bryan, Emmanuel Jal and Yaba Angelosi.

On the stage she is just as impressive. Performing at Bagamoyo International Arts Festival in Tanzania, Afrofest Toronto, TDotFest at Yonge & Dundas Square, African Descent Festival Vancouver, South Sudan Unite 2019 in Minneapolis, AFRIMMA’s 2023 Awards Texas and RUKAFest South Sudan, she is growing into an artist that can hold any audience in her embrace. Her list of awards and nominations is also something to celebrate; Best R&B Artist of the Year at the 2021 South Sudan Music Awards, two nominations by the African Entertainment Awards for Best Female Artist and Musician of the Year from the South Sudanese ACE Awards.

There is nothing Ill-fated about the music of Amanie. It is destined to bask in the spotlight and shine like the star she already is.
